OML launches Youtube hunt for comedic talent
Talent search for India’s next online comedy star will feature mentors like AIB, Kanan Gill etc
OML has decided to launch a three-month long talent hunt for India’s next online comedy star. Starting from today, all you have to do is post a funny video on ‘The Comedy hunt’ on YouTube which will then be evaluated by India’s top online comedy talents such as AIB, Kanan Gill, East India Comedy etc.
Once the window for uploading videos ends ( 26th July), said parties will shortlist the best candidates, train them to sharpen their skills before they are put through seven weeks of challenge rounds post which five top contenders will be selected and asked to go on stage and display their videos with their respective mentors.
Commenting on the new initiative, Ajay Nair, Director, OML, said, “There is huge appetite among younger audiences to consume content that’s not formulaic and that has been traditionally served by television. This initiative is a platform to find and reward creators across various comedic forms- not just stand-up or sketches. It’s an exciting time to create humorous content and with this hunt, we want to accelerate that process”
Ashish Shakya, AIB, Mentors of Comedy Hunt said “We’re kicked to be a part of the Comedy Hunt. It’s an exciting time to be a digital content creator in India and we’re happy to help in pushing new comic talent centre stage. Also, people are tired of seeing our ugly faces and the scene could always use new blood.”
