India’s webcomic space is quite dormant, rumbling underground occasionally, but the one that roars the loudest – and is the wittiest – is Sumit Kumar’s Bakarmax. Kumar, a prolific cartoonist, caricaturist and storyteller, also shares his webcomic with other artists and writers, making it a platform for satire, parodies, political commentary (the stuff they get away with is shocking), Indian behaviour and cultures, all doused in rose-tinted small-town nostalgia. Bakarmax is relatable, funny, extremely perceptive and intelligent, making it a fantastic read on the go.

Bakarmax Fan Tip: You need to check out the comic strip Sumit Kumar created to explain browser-based cryptocurrency mining, to fully understand his genius.
