After Kylie And Kareena, Diljit Dosanjh Dedicates Song To Rihanna
Recently, the global pop star and businesswoman, Rihanna, sent certain sections of India into a meltdown when she tweeted in support of the farmer’s protests that are ongoing in the country. Farmers of India have been protesting in Delhi for over three months now and despite several rounds of discussions with the government, neither side has reached a consensus. The government has responded harshly to the protests with barricades being set up and internet services being blocked.
For those who are still unaware, thousands of farmers are protesting against a set of three laws passed in September by the Narendra Modi government that seeks to deregulate India’s agriculture sector. While the government claims that the laws will benefit farmers, the farmers believe that the main beneficiaries of the laws will be agricultural corporations who have the big bucks.
Punjabi actor and musician Diljit Dosanjh has been vocal about his support for the farmers and their opposition the farm bills and has even gotten into Twitter tiffs with actress Kangana Ranaut who has inserted herself into the issue.
Rihanna took to Twitter and shared an article about the farmer protests in India, bringing global attention to an Indian issue. Soon thereafter Greta Thunberg and many noted international figures began tweeting in support of the farmer protests. Many Indian celebrities also appear to have posted copied government mandates about international interference on their Twitter handles. These celebs include Sachin Tendulkar, Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar.
Diljit Dosanjh released a song less than 24 hours after Rihanna’s tweet titled RiRi. “#RIRI @thisizintense @rajranjodhofficial #rihanna #diljitdosanjh LINK IN BIO Barbados Diye Sohniye Kudiye … Rang Jion Kankaan Di Jaee Ein.. Raj tan Rab Nu Kare Salaama Jiney Pari Dhart Te Laee Ein.. .,” he posted on social media.
The song is dedicated to Rihanna and compares her to an angel from heaven.
