Kantara on Amazon Prime Video

Fans Are Furious About This Major Omission From ‘Kantara’ On OTT

It’s a bumpy road ahead for ‘Kantara’!

After films like RRR and KGF 2, Kantara has been pegged as one of the most successful and loved films of 2022. The way in which it was embraced by the audience, owing to its intriguing narrative, left the masses mighty impressed. The movie is directed by Rishab Shetty, who also plays the lead.

Ever since the movie had completed its cycle from the theatres, there was a raging discussion on its speculated date of arrival on OTT platforms. Many who couldn’t see it in the theatres were eagerly waiting for its online release. A few days ago, the movie started streaming on Amazon Prime Video, and the internet is divided.

Turns out, there’s a reason for this. Towards the end of the film, an action-packed sequence treats the audience with a much-needed adrenaline rush. Keeping the audience on the edge of their seats, the film ends with a melodious song, Varaha Roopam. It gives the film the perfect ending, as opined by many fans.

But in the OTT version, the makers decided to tweak the song and the audience are far from amused. The current track doesn’t possess the magic that the one released in theatres had.

Here’s A Peek At Fan Views:

The song stirred up controversy in the past. Earlier, Thaikkudam Bridge claimed that the orchestral arrangement of the song has been copied from the Navarasam track. But the music director of the film retorted that the song was only inspired and not copied. The band refused to accept the stance, anyhow.

Later the Kozhikode principal district court session maintained that the song cannot be used any further without the permission of the complainant. Precisely the reason why makers cannot use the song on platforms Amazon, YouTube, Spotify, etc.

The movie was made on a meager budget of Rs. 16 crores but raked in over Rs. 400 crores reportedly. The streaming of the movie on OTT has faced incessant delays in the recent past.
