What is Astraverse?

Ayan Mukerji says he’s been developing a cinematic universe of weapons with supernatural powers, rooted deeply in folklore which has been named as Astraverse. The first part of this Astraverse universe begins with sages meditating in the Himalayas, who are blessed with ‘Brahm-shakti’ that gives rise to these powerful weapons also referred to as ‘Astra’

The 7 weapons of Astraverse

Brahma Shakti gives birth to these weapons that contain powers of various natural elements like the Jalastra, Pawanastra, and Agnyastra. Then there are a few which have the powers of animals. Like Vanarastra which has the power of a divine monkey and Nandiastra which has the power of thousands of bulls.

In the end, the most powerful weapon, the Brahmastra is born from Brahmashakti. Not only is it the most powerful of all weapons but it also controls the power of the other weapons and has the power of the entire universe.

The secret group of Brahmansh

As the guardians of the Brahmastra, a few sages take a vow to safeguard these weapons and come to be known as Brahmansh. This secret group leads a normal life to mingle with common people but with the power of these Astras, they also try to help mankind. With the passage of time, the secret gets passed on to newer generations who continue to safeguard these weapons even today.

The human weapon- Shiva

Now, the first movie of the franchise will be the story of Shiva who is a DJ in modern-day India. Ayan says it’d be interesting to see a story so deeply-rooted in ancient India unfold in the present day. In another interesting twist to the tale, he goes on to explain how Shiva is the miracle of this Astraverse as he himself is the Angyastra or the fire weapon but in the form of a human. And while he is leading a normal life, he eventually realises that the purpose of his life and existence is something else.
