The Hindi film industry is buzzing with controversies and sometimes it has repercussions on the careers of talented actors. Take a look:

Kartik Aaryan, who is busy promoting his upcoming film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, has spoken about went wrong between him and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. In an earlier statement, Dharma refused to reveal details and said that it would maintain a ‘dignified silence’ on the matter. It is said that Kartik Aaryan was dropped from Dostana 2 because of a tiff with Karan Johar.

 

In an interview, the actor said, “What happens, at times, is people make ‘baat ka batangad’ (make a mountain out of a molehill). There is nothing more to it. Everybody just wants to work, do good work. Other than that, things are just rumours.”

The Hindi film industry is never short on controversies, and sometimes these have an impact on the careers of talented celebrities. Here are some of the instances when celebrities lost out on big films because of their issues with the big names in the industry:

Vivek Oberoi

Remember the Salman Khan and Vivek Oberoi controversy? In 2003, the Inside Edge actor accused Salman Khan of harassing him as he was dating his ex-girlfriend, Aishwarya Rai. He blamed Khan for threatening him and calling him 41 times. With Vivek Oberoi speaking up, he lost out on a lot of movies.

 

Arijit Singh

In 2014, during an award function where Salman Khan was on stage, the singer was spotted sleeping in his seat. When he was called out for it, Arijit Singh said, “Aap logoon ne sula diya.” He immediately apologised but the damage had already been done. A few days later, Meet Brothers cancelled a recorded song with Arijit for a Salman Khan film and even Pritam refused to use his vocals for Bajrangi Bhaijaan. That was not all, a song was dropped from Sultan and this forced Arijit Singh to take the matter to social media. He made a public apology with a Facebook post. 

Sushant Singh Rajput

A few days after Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise, people close to him revealed that Salman Khan and Karan Johar tried to spoil his career by not letting him get work. As per sources, the actor was not allowed to work in films while he was shooting for Drive opposite Jacqueline Fernandez. Sushant’s gym partner, Sunil Shukla also said that Shah Rukh Khan had insulted Sushant at the IIFA in Macau.

Tanushree Dutta

In 2008, Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar and Ganesh Acharya of misbehaving with her during the shoot of a song on the sets of Horn Ok Pleassss. In a press conference, Tanushree said, “Ganesh Acharya is mainly responsible for spoiling my career, my livelihood, and my life.” She also filed a complaint against the two for allegedly molesting her. This had major repercussions on her career.
