Bollywood Celebs Who Had To Issue Public Apologies For Their Actions
From Akshay Kumar To Salman Khan, 7 Bollywood Celebs Who’ve Issued Public Apologies

Akshay Kumar may be in the news lately but he’s not the first, and many actors have been through this drill

Over the years, there have been times when Bollywood celebs who fans look up to and are celebrated have enraged audiences with their misinformed comments or decisions. While some were harmless and just became content for memes, like Alia Bhatt declaring Prithviraj Chauhan as the Prime Minister of India, some comments made by Salman Khan, or Akshay Kumar endorsing tobacco brands, didn’t go well with any of us.

Akshay Kumar has extended an apology to his fans after he received backlash for being a part of a tobacco brand brand. He joined Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan in promoting the brand but opted out of the deal after getting trolled mercilessly. He took to his social media accounts to apologise to his fans, and even stated that the money that he earned from the endorsement will be donated.

Such an incident isn’t new to Bollywood and many actors have made some questionable and controversial choices and were forced to issue an apology for it.

Salman Khan

Salman Khan landed himself into a public outrage when he compared himself to a ‘raped woman’. He was asked about the grueling training schedule he underwent for his film. His answer to this was a poor and insensitive analogy on how he felt when he used to walk out of the ring after shooting for almost six hours. For obvious reasons this upset people and Salman said he shouldn’t have made such comments. Reports also say that the actor was apologetic about the comment and requested journalists not to use it. However, the damage was done. Later, his father, Salim Khan, took to Twitter to apologise on his behalf.

Rashmika Madanna and Vicky Kaushal

Rashmika Mandanna and Vicky Kaushal were a part of an advertisement for a men’s underwear brand. It showed the actress, playing a yoga teacher, getting impressed by her student (Kaushal). The ad was called ‘sleazy.’ Mandanna’s team issued an apology for the ad.

Ranveer Singh

Ranveer Singh was part of an ad for a popular apparel brand. The ad was termed sexist, and the actor issued an apology for the same.

Siddharth

Rang de Basanti actor, Siddharth replied to Saina Nehal’s tweet saying:

He was called out for his language and his comment against the badminton player. The actor later took to Twitter to give his apology:

“Dear Saina, I want to apologise to you for my rude joke that I wrote as a response to a tweet of yours a few days ago. I may disagree with you on many things, but even my disappointment or anger when I read your tweet, cannot justify my tone and words. I know I have more grace in me than that. As for the joke, if a joke needs to be explained, then it wasn’t a very good joke, to begin with. Sorry about a joke that didn’t land. I, however, must insist my wordplay and humour had none of the malicious intent that so many people from all quarters have attributed to it. I am a staunch feminist ally and I assure you there was no gender implied in my tweet and certainly no intent to attack you as a woman. I hope we can put this behind us and that you will accept my letter. You will always be my Champion.”

Yuvika Chaudhary

Yuvika Chaudhary landed herself in hot water for using a casteist slur in her Vlog. She issued a public apology on her Instagram after the hashtag ‘Arrest Yuvika Chaudhary’ started trending on Twitter. “I would like to apologise to each and every one of you for my honest mistake which happened unknowingly. I didn’t know the meaning about that word which I used in my last Vlog. I didn’t mean to hurt anyone and I can never do that to hurt someone. This was a mistake I hope you understand and forgive me.”

Does that mean I am less God-fearing than a non-eater? Think!!” He later issued a clarification about his tweet.
