Great detectives can solve the most difficult of cases, and even though we wish that we never have to hire one, we know that life can be unfair sometimes. So whether it is to catch a thief, track down a murderer or simply help an innocent man who is wrongly charged, these on screen detectives can do the trick – much better than Jagga Jasoos, who is merely a juvenile teen detective (we think.)
The carrot eating detective was someone who could spot a pin in a pile of haystock. Even the most hardened criminals with well devised plans had to bow down to the genius of the character played by Pankaj Kapur. We loved the way he would use Urdu in his raspy voice, and we love Kitty – Karmachand’s assistant.
ACP Pradyuman along with Daya and Abhijeet could solve anything. Bring Dr Salunkhe into the picture, and no criminal could save himself. Pradyuman’s ability to collect evidence even when the criminal has left none, is prodigious and unmatched. Yes, we understand that the show is a tad unrealistic, but there’s a reason why it was one of the most successful shows on Indian television. So much so, that when you Google CID, you find more results related to the show instead of the actual CID.
Arguably, India’s Sherlock Holmes, Byomkesh Bakshi believed in simple living and high thinking. Do note that when we’re talking about hiring Byomkesh, we mean Rajit Kapoor from the old TV series. Not Sushant Singh Rajput from Dibakar Banerjee’s film. Just like Sherlock loved his pipe, Byuomkesh loves his cigarettes and tea – a killer combination, that helps him solve the trickiest of cases.
