“A Horror Movie That Barely Gets Away With Its PG-13 Rating!” Fans Are Already Raving About The Upcoming ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’ Movie
The ‘Doctor Strange’ sequel is directed by Sam Raimi of the original ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy fame
After months of waiting, Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness is finally hitting the box office this Friday, on May 6th, 2022. And if the initial reactions are any indications, the (former) Sorcerer Supreme is about to take us for a wild ride across multiple dimensions.
The Doctor Strange sequel will see Sam Raimi returning to comic book-based movies for the first time since helming the original Spider-Man trilogy. As expected, fans have been talking about the collaboration ever since it was announced that Raimi will be replacing Scott Derrickson—the director of the first movie in the series.
The Benedict Cumberbatch starer movie was initially set to come out back in 2021 but was delayed due to the Covid pandemic. Joining Cumberbatch is the returning cast of Benedict Wong as Wong, Rachel McAdams as Dr Christine Palmer, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo. Also on the call sheet is Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff and newcomer Xochitl Gomez, who plays America Chavez a teenager with the ability to create portals to different dimensions.
The last time we saw Doctor Strange was during the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where he stopped the multiverse from splintering. Meanwhile, judging from the trailers, the movie also seems to be heavily focusing on Wanda Maximoff, who’s still grieving the loss of her family.
As we mentioned before, the first reactions to the movie are already out and they seem quite promising.
When I heard #DoctorStrange in the #MultiverseOfMadness was the MCU’s first horror movie, I had my doubts, even with Sam Raimi at the helm. But damn! Much like Drag Me to Hell, this is a horror movie that just barely gets away with its PG-13 rating! pic.twitter.com/HKEZagUQnJ

Just got out of #DoctorStrange #MultiverseOfMadness and it was SICK. For anyone scared this was just going to be a non-stop cameo fest devoid of substance and more of an “event” than a “movie,” quell your fears. Sam Raimi made a Sam Rami-ass movie, for better or worse. pic.twitter.com/rI8RpKzO2L

Absolutely in love with what I just saw. Raimi is truly all over it, and the horror elements are something special, but it’s so fast as brutal and FUN. Did not feel like anything I’ve watched in the MCU before. Cumberbatch and Olsen are 🐐. #DoctorStrange #MultiverseOfMadness pic.twitter.com/opTR7Zpz54

Wow, leave it up to Sam Raimi to make one messy, clunky, scary, gnarly, batshit insane movie. #DoctorStrange Multiverse of Madness does not care, it just GOES for it. First half is not great, one cameo made me scream, but then the second half (visuals+score) just absolutely RIPS! pic.twitter.com/9NFxpL1EMa

DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS is an absolute rollercoaster ride filled to the brim with truly incredible performances, marvelous visual spectacle, wacky adventure, & Sam Raimi’s signature horror idiosyncrasies. You won’t want to miss this! #DoctorStrange pic.twitter.com/4eFsuqLh2I

Just watched #MultiverseOfMadness and it’s a Sam Raimi film through and through. It features some of the most brutal and violent moments we’ve seen in the MCU. The darker elements are blended with silly humor and snippets of horror. It’s a BLAST. #DoctorStrange #MarvelStudios pic.twitter.com/JFScZyahOQ

Doctor Strange In the #MultiverseOfMadness takes Marvel in a darker, stranger new direction. This grudge match between #DoctorStrange and Wanda is entertaining throughout especially when Sam Raimi ramps up the horror elements. It is surprisingly gory, creepy & full of surprises. pic.twitter.com/b9ms19Losd

#DoctorStrange #MultiverseOfMadness is a Sam Raimi movie in and out… horrific, brutal, shocking, & even scary at times. The film builds on each minute it gives & never lets up even at the very end. Elizabeth Olsen is even better than she was in WANDAVISION. pic.twitter.com/Z8jDkcrKGO
