The conversation about whether the Hera Pheri franchise would get a third film has kept fans engaged for more than 15 years (ever since the last film in the franchise released). The Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty starrer Hera Pheri franchise is considered a cult classic, and every now and then rumours about the cast returning for another film surface online.

While the lead cast has often shunned the idea, the producer of the film has confirmed that Hera Pheri 3 is finally in the works. Firoz Nadiadwala confirmed working on the third part of the franchise, saying that the original cast will be returning for the same.

“You’ll get to see it very soon with the same star cast – Akshay ji, Paresh bhai and Suniel ji. The story is in place, and we are working on certain modalities. It’ll be made in the same way, retaining the innocence of the characters. We can’t take past achievements for granted. So, we have to be extra careful in terms of our content, story, screenplay, characters, mannerism etc,” he told Bollywood Hungama.

Nadiadwala had earlier revealed that the movie’s director, Priyadarshan had “abandoned the project midway.” He had then told Mid-Day that he “kept mum all these years out of respect for Priyadarshan, and because the film became a blockbuster” but is choosing to open up as Priyadarshan has spoken about turning down the sequel and the upcoming third part of the franchise. “How can he talk about turning down our offer to direct the second and upcoming third part, when he did not even complete the first film?,” he had said.

Back in May 2018, it was reported that Indra Kumar would be directing the third part of the franchise. The producer did not reveal much about the same but he hinted that they have already shortlisted a director. He added, “We are in talks. We’ll make the announcement soon.”

Hera Pheri released in 2000 and was followed by Phir Hera Pheri’s release in 2006. The first two parts of the film were huge successes at the box office and had received massive love from the audience as well. A third part of the franchise film has been in demand ever since then.
