More than anything, any Andrew Garfield fan missed seeing him with Emma Stone together in Spider-Man No Way Home. The two shared a great camaraderie on and off-screen, and still many people vouch for the ex-couple. (Yes, we know Stone is engaged). But while the two might not be dating each other anymore, they remain in touch even now. The two talk about each other fondly and keep each other updated about what’s happening in their lives.
And while we think Stone, who played Gwen Stacy in the Amazing Spider-Man must have known that Garfield is very much a part of NWH, the actor revealed that he had to lie to her as well. Leading up to the movie’s release, the stars including Tom Holland, Tobey Magquire and Garfield were very tight-lipped about the surprise cameos including their close ones.
“Emma kept on texting me,” Garfield, who dated Stone for four years, revealed on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast. He added, “She was like, ‘Are you in this new Spider-Man film?’ And I was like, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about.’ She was like, ‘Shut up, just tell me!'”
Horowitz’s next question was of obviously asking Garfield about Stone’s reaction when she finally found out about his cameo. “She saw it and she was like, ‘You’re a jerk,'” he told the podcast host.
Though they’ve both moved on romantically ever since their breakup in 2015, a source told E! News says, “There is definitely still love for each other there. They remain close and are on good terms.” In a 2016 The Hollywood Reporter interview, Andrew Garfield even named Emma Stone as the one actor or actress he’d have with him on a desert island. “She’s all right. She can come,” he said.
