Taxi Driver starring Robert DeNiro is a cult classic film that still ranks among the best Hollywood films ever made. Veteran film-maker, Martin Scorsese is often lauded for making this film but interestingly she still has some regrets about the 1976 feature. According to American author Fran Lebowitz and an old friend of Scorsese, Scorsese is “still angry” over the final edit of the film, mainly the colour red.

Lebowitz discussed Scorsese’s editing process during an interview with the Los Angeles Times. “I guarantee you if they had not taken it away from him, he would still be editing Taxi Driver. He’s still angry,” Lebowitz revealed.

“He said to me numerous times: “You know what ruins Taxi Driver? The colour red. The studio wouldn’t give me enough money to correct the colour red, and that’s why it’s horrible. I say, “You know what’s wrong with Taxi Driver, Marty? Nothing,” she added.

On the work front, Martin Scorsese earlier signed a multi-year deal with Apple TV+, as reported by Deadline. As part of the deal, Scorsese’s Sikelia Productions will produce and direct both film and television projects for the streaming service. Sikelia Productions has notable films under its banner including Silence, The Wolf of Wall Street and The Departed.

The director is currently working with them on the film Killers of the Flower Moon, which will be directed by Scorsese, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. The film is in pre-production and is expected to debut in 2021.
