‘The Batman’ Director Matt Reeves Confirms Three New Shows Set In The Batverse
There also might be a Batman sequel in works, starring Robert Pattinson
If you’ve already seen Matt Reeves’ The Batman and couldn’t get enough of it, we have some good news. The director has confirmed his plans of expanding his new Bat Cinematic Universe with more projects.
This may include a sequel to Robert Pattinson’s Batman, along with two new shows. One show will focus on the inner workings of the Gotham City Police Department, and the other on Colin Farrell’s Penguin.
Along with the two shows, the Cloverfield and Planet of the Apes director confirmed an Arkham Asylum- focused show is on the cards. The notorious Gotham city psych ward has been known to house most of Batman’s rogue gallery, including Joker, Scarecrow, and Harley Quinn. It was also featured in the popular Batman Arkham series of games.
While speaking with The Toronto Sun, the director mentioned, “We’re doing this Penguin series and one of the great things about that is Colin Farrell, he’s like you’ve never seen him. He’s so incredible and he’s a scene-stealer. Along the way, we thought maybe we could do it as a series. So I talked to HBO Max and showed them Colin in the movie and spoke to them about what this could be and they said, ‘Let’s do it.’ So we’re doing that and we’re doing another series that connects to Arkham.”
While details are paper-thin right now, and none of the projects has received a green light, considering the rave reviews ‘The Batman’ is getting, we won’t be surprised if Warner Bros cash in on the hype. DC fans, it looks like our patience is finally being rewarded!
