We really think that Akshaye Khanna is one fine actor who didn’t get his due in Bollywood. Yes, he made regrettable film choices, but he put in some stellar performances as well. With Ittefaq releasing today, we hope that Akshaye gets a lot of praise (so far, the critics are loving him) for his acting. Like he did for these films.

Yes, a few of them may not be suited for a discerning audience, but you can’t blame Khanna’s subtle acting for it.

Even though an up and coming Khanna shared screen space with established actors like Sunny Deol and Sunil Shetty, he held his own as a soldier who loves his mom and his lover. The scene where he dies brought tears to our eyes, mainly because we couldn’t bear to see his mother running in the sand looking for him.

Aishwarya Rai was the face of Taal, but Akshaye Khanna’s performance earned him plaudits too. You can still watch songs like Ishq Bina and Nahin Saamne, and feel the love flow within you.

Dil Chahta Hai

One of the best buddy films in Bollywood, Dil Chahta Hai sees Akshaye Khanna as Sid – a man who falls in love with a woman way older than him. In a recent interview, Akshaye stated that he would love to be a part of the movie’s sequel. We don’t know if it will ever get made, but if it does, we are definitely watching it in theatres.

An unbelievable pot-boiler from Abbas-Mustan, Race is a movie filled with more twists and turns than a mountainous highway. Akshaye plays the perfect villain, but gets killed in the end after Saif Ali Khan pulls a bluff on him.

Another Abbas-Mustan thriller, Humraaz is one of those rare films where three unsuccessful actors (Bobby Deol, Amisha Patel and Akshaye Khanna) have combined to deliver a hit. The film earned 11 Filmfare Award nominations in 2008, but didn’t win any.
