It was recently announced that actor Hrithik Roshan will be coming together with actress Deepika Padukone for Siddharth Anand’s Fighter. Now, fans can rejoice because if media reports are to be believed, we might just see Hrithik Roshan play the role of Ravan in Madhu Mantena’s Ramayana.
And guess what? Hrithik Roshan will share screen space with Deepika Padukone in Mantena’s film as well. It was speculated earlier that the actor would play the role of Lord Rama while Padukone would essay the role of Sita. However, recent reports reveal that Hrithik Roshan will be playing Ravan in the mythological drama film.
“Duggu had been in talks to play an important role in Deepika’s Draupadi which was a modern retelling of the epic Mahabharat. But that film will happen later. Mantena is bankrolling Ramayana first and Hrithik will play Ravan’s role in the epic period drama,” a source told a leading daily, reports Filmfare.
Bollywood Hungama reports that there were plans to cast Prabhas as Lord Rama but that wasn’t possible as Madhu Mantena took some time to put his project together. In the meantime, Om Raut was ready with his pet project, Adipurush and Prabhas was on board for that.
“Madhu got the biggest shock when Om announced Adipurush with Prabhas. He immediately got his team and financiers to bankroll his Ramayana and now, Hrithik has come on board as the villain. Deepika remains Sita and he wanted a big south face to play Lord Ram,” a source told Bollywood Hungama.
The entertainment portal also reveals that Mantena might cast Mahesh Babu as Ram.
“Madhu has offered the film to Mahesh Babu who also liked the script. Madhu feels he has the innocence to pull off Shri Ram’s character. Mahesh Babu, on the other hand, has liked the script but is yet to give his nod to the project. What also helps is Madhu who has a connection with KWAAN, has managed to get all the three top stars who are clients of the same agency,” BH reports.
