Phoebe Waller-Bridge shot to fame following the release of her phenomenal series, Fleabag, on Amazon Prime Video. Now, the actress is teaming up with musician and actor Donald Glover to work on a series based on the blockbuster 2005 hit, Mr and Mrs Smith.
Mr and Mrs Smith stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as spies married to each other. The movie was released during the height of the Brangelina rumours that were taking over the tabloids. The film was a major hit and was noted for the intense chemistry between Jolie and Pitt.
According to a post shared on Donald Glover’s Instagram account, the new series will release in 2022. The project has been created by Waller-Bridge and Glover and is a result of Waller-Bridge’s overall deal with the streaming giant, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The two actors have previously worked on the Star Wars spin-off Solo: A Star Wars Story.
“Talk about the dream team! Donald and Phoebe are two of the most talented creators and performers in the world. It’s truly a dream for us, as it will be for our global audience, to have these two forces of nature collaborating as a powerhouse creative team,” Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke said in a statement.
“Mr and Mrs Smith is an iconic property, and we can’t wait to see how Donald, Phoebe and Francesca make it their own. We’re thrilled to be working with them, and with such great partners at New Regency,” she added.
