Kanye West’s 10th studio album, Donda, to drop this Friday.
The rapper revealed in a Beats by Dre commercial, which aired during Tuesday’s NBA Finals, that his much-awaited follow-up to Jesus is King drops this Friday.
West has scored and edited the ad that U.S. track star Sha’Carri Richardson features, the centre of a recent Olympics controversy as she tested positive for marijuana. The commercial also featured a snippet from “No Child Left Behind,” a new song from the album. In the ad, West can be heard singing, “He’s done miracles on me” as Richardson prepares to run.
The album that was initially supposed to release on July 24, 2020, is now confirmed to release within a matter of days.
‘Ye’s new album will be debuted to the world at 8 p.m. this Thursday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Tickets went on sale Monday via ticketmaster.com, priced at $20 and $50. About 40,000 to 50,000 tickets were expected to be available at the venue, which holds 71,000. The listening event will also be live-streamed on Apple Music.
West named the album after his late mother, Donda West, who passed away in 2007. No other details about the album have come from West, other than his initial release announcement back in 2020. Set to release the same day as Taylor Swift’s surprise album, Folklore did, it had to be pushed owing to his presidential campaign and his ending marriage with Kim Kardashian West.
On July 13 2020, Kanye released a new two-minute song via Twitter on what would have been his mother Donda West’s 71st birthday. The track opened with a recording of his mother reciting the lyrics from KRS-One’s 1993 single ‘Sound Of Da Police’. “In loving memory of my incredible mother on her birthday,” West tweeted, before deleting the post.
A few days ago, on July 18, photographer and digital content creator Nigel D. Presents tweeted in a thread his experience at Yeezy’s album listening event in Las Vegas, which was somewhat made known to the public after an “invite-only” email for the event began circulating online.

“I like the versatility on the album. There were some tracks I wanted to scream run that back for but security might have Jazzy Jeff’d me,” read one of the tweets in the thread.
Internet personality Justin Laboy also tweeted about the album, and how it was phenomenal enough to push all his current favourites to the sidelines for a while.
Kanye West album is really done. When it drops this week, we probably not going to listen to anything else for a while.. Let me go enjoy all the current artist I’m listening to until then. God bless✌🏾 #Respectfully
