The jewels in the crown of modern day hip-hop are back. Rap duo Run The Jewels (El-P + Killer Mike) have dropped their long-awaited fourth studio album Run The Jewels 4 for free. The album was scheduled to drop on June 5, but the duo chose to pre-pone the release of the album and drop it two days earlier.

America and other countries around the world erupted in protests after the murder of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man who was killed due to police brutality. Michael ‘Killer Mike’ Render has always been a strong voice in the black community in America, with the support of his rap partner and good friend, Jamie ‘El-P’ Meline. While several artists have delayed the releases of their albums, Run The Jewels believe this is what the world needs right now and dropped RTJ4 for free.

“Fuck it, why wait,” begins a statement from El-P and Killer Mike. “The world is infested with bullshit so here’s something raw to listen to while you deal with it all. We hope it brings you some joy. Stay safe and hopeful out there and thank you for giving 2 friends the chance to be heard and do what they love.”

You can now stream RTJ4 on all music streaming platforms and for free on Run The Jewels’ official website.
