A sequel to Akshay Kumar starrer Oh My God has been in talks for quite some time. While it was reported that the makers were planning to take the film, Oh My God 2, on the floors by summer 2021, there was a change in plans due to the coronavirus induced lockdown. However, things are finally set in motion and the latest buzz around the film is that Pankaj Tripathi too has reportedly been roped in to essay a key role in the film.

Oh My God 2 will feature Pankaj Tripathi as the lead character alongside Akshay Kumar, who gets back to play his role from the first part. The discussions have been going on for quite some time with Pankaj and everything is now locked,” a source close to the development revealed to Pinkvilla. The first part of the film was directed by Umesh Shukla and it featured Paresh Rawal in the lead role alongside Kumar.

“The pre-production work has begun with a team working in isolation to explore the probable locations of shoot, and also deciding on designing the sets in the city. The film will be wrapped up in one go by the month of October,” the source added.

Oh My God 2 will mark Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi’s second collaboration. The two will also be seen in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Bachchan Pandey, directed by Farhad Samji. Director Umesh Shukla will also be not returning to direct the sequel. The makers have kept the details about the new director on board a secret till now. OMG 2 will be produced by Ashwin Varde along with Kumar.

Before moving on to Oh My God 2, Kumar will be wrapping up the shoot for Anand L Rai’s directorial titled Raksha Bandhan. He also has to shoot for a major chunk of Abhishek Sharma directed Ram Setu and also has another project at hand. As for Tripathi, he was last seen in Mirzapur 2.
