Rajkummar Rao kickstarted 2021 with two films — The White Tiger and Roohi — both receiving a lot of love from the audience. Roohi, which starred Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Sharma with Rao, was the first big banner films to make it to the theatres after the pandemic induced lockdown. As for The White Tiger, the film has been making waves internationally, and has opened up new avenues for Rao as well.
The White Tiger made it to the Oscar nominations and Rao’s co-star, Adarsh Gourav, has also received many accolades for his stint in the film. As for the Roohi actor, he is also receiving offers from the West post TWT. The actor revealed that he has been offered some roles in Hollywood films but he is waiting for the right script to come his way.
“I did get some opportunities post The White Tiger, but am waiting for something exciting to come my way. It would be fun to explore work in the West as I had a great time being a part of this,” he told Hindustan Times. He went on to talk about his experience working on The White Tiger, and expressed how ecstatic he is to know that the film will now compete in the Best Adapted Screenplay category at the Oscars.
Rao said, “The film has done phenomenally well worldwide. The kind of love I got from all over the world is overwhelming and for me to get an opportunity to work with Ramin (Bahrani, director) was a great experience. I’ve learnt a lot while filming it and would cherish that process forever.”
Up next, Rajkummar Rao will be seen in Harshvardhan Kulkarni’s Badhaai Do. The actor will be seen romancing Bhumi Pednekar in the film. Backed by Junglee Pictures, the film is said to be a sequel of sorts to the 2018 National Award-winning hit Badhaai Ho!. The actor will be seen in a cop avatar in the film and has undergone major body transformation for his role.
