Ryan Gosling Says Ken Has No Money No Job In The Upcoming Barbie Movie

We have all known Ken to be the rich and sexy brat but it seems like the makers have planned something else in the movie for him

With new looks being and interviews surfacing quite often, the hype around the romantic comedy movie Barbie is building gradually. In a recent interview, Ryan Gosling who would be playing the role of Ken opposite Oscar nominee Margot Robbie revealed an interesting detail about his character Ken.

According to him it will be completely different from what people are expecting from the character. He said that his character in the Gray Man is still okay but Ken’s character is rougher. This is not the kind of Ken people have seen before. He doesn’t have anything here, not even a single penny. He has hit a rough patch in life. But he doesn’t reveal anything more than this, otherwise he jokingly says that Mattle might pack him in a box.

When Ken was introduced in 1977 as Superstar Ken, he met Barbie on the sets of a television show. And at that time, he was living a dream life. Right from a chiselled physique to an accomplished professional and personal life, he had everything.

Almost a month ago, the first look of Ken was revealed by Warner Bros where he looked just like the doll in a denim outfit, bare-chested and the highlight being the ken-brand boxers. As soon as the photo hit the internet, it made waves.

According to Gosling, this is a character he relates to. He is doing this role because a lot of people who are like Ken need representation. So apart from getting a creative experience, he is doing this movie for the boys who are like Ken.

While Robbie and Gosling will be seen playing the lead, the cast also includes a few other names like Simu Liu, Alexandra Shipp and America Ferrea, among others. What these actors will play is still under the wraps but their entry into the dream house is awaited.

Greta Gerwig will be directing this movie and along with Noah Baumbach, she will be co-writing the script as well. Mark your calendar because the movie is set to release on July 21, 2023.
