Taapsee Pannu will be seen next playing the role of former cricket captain Mithali Raj in the upcoming biopic of Indian cricketer, titled Shabhaash Mithu.

On Raj’s birthday on December 3, Pannu took to Instagram to announce the news. She posted multiple pictures along with a caption and they celebrated the athlete’s birthday by cutting the cake. Take a look at it below.

“I don’t think I want to trade this place with anyone else right now. She has always been brave and strong to back truth and her idols, and that is the connection I feel with her. The way she changed the way women’s cricket is perceived and seen in India is truly a story worth telling,” said Pannu in a statement. This was reported by The Hindu.

Last year, PTI asked the actress about the biopic, to which she had responded: “The script is not in place so it’s too early to talk about it. Right now, they are collecting material and the script has not been written yet. If they offer me, I will be very happy. I really want to do a sports biopic.”

Apart from Shabhaash Mithu, the actress will be seen playing a role in another sports biopic. The actress will be portraying the role of athlete Rashmi from Gujarat. Earlier this year, the first look of the poster was released and it is titled as Rashmi Rocket.
