After a long break, Sidharth Malhotra is back to entertain his fans with the engaging story of Shershaah. The actor will be seen essaying the role of Captain Vikram Batra in Karan Johar’s film which is set to release on August 12. The makers unveiled the trailer of the film a few days ago, and it is everything people are talking about. Now opening up about playing the titular role, Malhotra says that the film was an experience ‘bigger than a film’.
At the special trailer launch of the war film, Malhotra said that he is fortunate to have been given the opportunity to play the real-life hero on-screen. “This day is extremely emotional for me. We started this journey five years ago with Vishal Batra ji. This is my first film where I have portrayed the life of a real-life hero. Shershaah has been an experience bigger than a film,” he added. Malhotra will be seen in the double role of Captain Vikram Batra and his twin brother Vishal Batra in the film.
He went on to say, “I would like to thank the Indian Army… This story is about true, real-life heroes like you. And I consider myself lucky that I got to play him.” The film, directed by Vishnuvaradhan, chronicles the story of Captain Batra and how he commanded his troops during the 1999 Kargil war. He was given the highest wartime gallantry award Param Vir Chakra posthumously.
Kiara Advani, who stars opposite Malhotra, said that the film changed him on a personal front. “Some films change you professionally but there are some that change you personally. Shershaah is that film for me. Thank you to the Batra family, Dimple and everyone who made this possible for us. I will forever be grateful. We can’t wait to share this with the world,” she said.
Shershaah is jointly produced by Dharma Productions and Kaash Entertainment. The film also stars Shiv Panditt, Raj Arjun, Pranay Pachauri, Himanshu Ashok Malhotra, Nikitin Dheer, Anil Charanjeett, Sahil Vaid, Shataf Figar and Pawan Chopra in key roles.
