‘The Adam Project’ Trailer: Ryan Reynolds Teams Up With Himself In New Sci-Fi Timebender
A time-traveling pilot teams up with his younger self and his late father to come to terms with his past while saving the future.
From Harry Potter to The Avengers, time travel has been a trope that’s almost indispensable in every big franchise. While most of these films take the idea quite seriously and discourage any kind of timeline meddling, The Adam Project takes a hard left turn. Check out the brand new trailer below:
The story kicks off when bright-eyed kid Adam (Walker Scobell) meets an older version of himself (Ryan Reynolds). The pair end up discovering more about themselves, their family, and their hidden shared past while trying to save their timeline from a strange futuristic force.
Jumping into the mix is Zoe Saldaña as Adam’s wife (in the future), Mark Ruffalo as his father in the past, and Jennifer Garner as his mother in the present — a fun reunion of actors who have all starred in films inspired by Marvel Comics. The trailer even takes a tiny shot at multiverse theory becoming inescapable with it’s recent full-scale adoption by the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The flick is directed by Stranger Things’ Shawn Levy — a great choice given the conflux between childhood and adulthood explored in the trailer. Just about a week-and-a-half before its debut, hype began to build up as fans and reviewers shared their interest and excitement on social media:
I just watched #TheAdamProject and it’s an absolute delight! @VancityReynolds and Walker Scobell have amazing chemistry in this Back to the Future-esque adventure, and once it hits Netflix on March 11, it’s definitely worth a watch! pic.twitter.com/zjCK93e5tZ

Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy knocked out of the park again. A highly engaging story, very heartfelt, is hilarious when it needs to be and one of the best Netflix films.
You’re gonna love it.
