But of late, women actors are carving a new niche for themselves, and stepping into roles that fall under the thriller genre. Bollywood is not to be left behind, if these movies are any indication. Janhvi Kapoor In Good Luck Jerry  

In this movie, Kapoor plays the role of a girl who starts dealing drugs to aid her ailing mother. The film, which released last week, has been directed by Siddharth Sen, written by Pankaj Matta and produced by Subaskaran Allirajah, Aanand L. Rai and Mahaveer Jain. So far, it has received rave reviews.

Sakshi Tanwar In Mai  

In this thriller series, Sakshi Tanwar plays the role of a mother hunting for the men behind her daughter’s death and portrays it with immense flair. The show, which dropped on Netflix in April, has garnered a positive response, especially for Talwar’s role.   

Aanchal Singh In Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein 

This dark, romantic thriller features Anchal Singh in the role of a woman obsessed with her love interest, but the plot takes a dangerous turn with a murder. The series also features Tahir Raj Bhasin and Shweta Tripathi.

Vidya Balan And Shefali Shah In Jalsa  

Directed by Suresh Triveni, this movie stars Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah in powerful roles, in a story that follows a hit-and-run case. The thriller premiered on Amazon Prime in March.

Yami Gautam in A Thursday  

Years after being raped, Gautam, who plays a school teacher, takes 16 of her students hostage and produces a list of demands for their release. The film, which was produced by RSVP Movies, also stars Atul Kulkarni, Neha Dhupia, Dimple Kapadia and Karanvir Sharma.
