Nike has closed down its largest warehouse in Memphis after an employee tested positive for coronavirus, according to mlk50. The 2.8 million square foot distribution center is Nike’s largest in the world, which employs more than 3,200 people. The company is currently set to reopen the facility on April 6 after finishing a rigorous disinfection process.

 

In an official statement, Nike said: “The health and safety of our team is always our first priority. We have temporarily closed one of our Memphis, TN, distribution facilities. During this period, we will be conducting a comprehensive disinfection process. We are targeting to reopen at 6 a.m. Sunday, April 5.”

 

In mid-March, Nike had closed all of its US stores as the pandemic continued to spread in the country. The sports giant also pledged $15 million to fight the pandemic along with developing face masks and other equipment for medical workers.
