Ken Downing will serve as the new creative director of Halston, starting from August 1.
With this new role, we will see Downing oversee the creative direction and handle every pivotal moment for the label. Halston defined American fashion in the ‘70s, which is now purchased by Xcel Brands Inc., with the aim of pushing the label into a new era.
Xcel Brands, one of the largest apparel and jewellery providers within the interactive TV market, is known for investing in live-streaming technology platforms. The company produces and distributes apparel and accessories under the Halston label, available at premium retailers that include Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, HSN and more.
Downing will be a part of the brand’s live-streaming platforms, wherein he will be seen engaging directly with customers and fans. “It’s an honour to re-envision and evolve the future of Halston, an iconic American luxury brand that has been a cultural touchstone for more than 50 years,” he said.
He is the former Senior Vice President and Fashion Director of Nieman Marcus, where under his direction the brand launched multiple digital initiatives surrounding fashion, including runway coverage, and social media interviews with designers, celebrities, models and influencers. He also previously served as Chief Creative Officer of international retail developer Triple Five Group Worldwide.
