Summer is that time of the year when keeping your fashion motivation up is a bit difficult, given how hot it gets, and having to ditch dark colours for pastels can be an adjustment. To make your wardrobe more summer friendly, we have curated a list of looks and ideas that you could try.
SUMMER WORKWEAR
For workwear in the summer, celebrity stylist Esha Amiin suggests colours such as mint, sky blue, mauves, pastels, peaches, yellows, white, and beige. “For suits, try grey and beige colours,” she says. For a more corporate look, choose more of light stretch cotton shirts, and pair it with trousers and a tie. Celebrity stylist Nidhi Jeswani says to go for pants or chinos in lighter fabrics with nice buttondown shirts. “Opt for chinos in khaki and you can also experiment with olive and greys,” she says.
POOL PARTY
Pool parties are a great occasion to experiment with pop colours, according to celebrity stylist, Rashi Morbia Kumar. “Try a neon shirt or T-shirt with a pair of shorts. Another option could be to pair a white or a denim shirt with a pair of neon swim trunks or shorts. If you don’t want to expose your legs, wear a pair of breathable linen or cotton trousers with a printed shirt,” she recommends. Who Wore What When stylists Pranay Jaitly and Shounak Amonkar say, “Wear outfits with stripes with tropical prints.”
BRUNCH
Jaitly and Amonkar suggest wearing shorts with a formal cotton shirt and a pair of loafers. Celebrity stylist Kumar says, “A rolled-up sleeve linen casual shirt with a pair of linen shorts along with sneakers is a great brunch look. If you’re feeling a bit adventurous, add a hat to go with it.” Amiin also adds that it’s important to pick the right footwear with the outfit , be it prints or monochrome.
BUSINESS CASUAL
With work cultures steering towards more relaxed casuals ways, thanks to the startup culture, it’s not all suits and ties anymore. There are more options to choose from these days. A linen suit with a soft cotton shirt or a casual blazer with a shirt and chinos will work great for meetings. “Different prints and patterns for shirts, stripes, checks, denims are great options to add to your daily looks. Sneakers, boat shoes and loafers are footwear options to perfect the business casual look,” suggests Kumar. According to Jeswani, one can switch a dress shirt for a more relaxed V-neck tee underneath the blazer with dark colours such as black, grey and navy.
EVENING DATE
For an evening date, celebrity stylist Isha Bhansali says that fun and quirky printed shirts are a must. According to Kumar, comfortable fabrics that won’t make you sweat too much are essential for warmer evenings. “Wear a thin denim shirt with your favourite jeans to keep it simple,” say Jaitley and Amonkar.
