Shot at the Suryagarh at Jaisalmer, the Oasis collection embodies response to the need of our times, the beauty to those deprived of it, glamour to those missing it and more power to those feeling helpless. The models strutted down in a way that changes their perception of the world around them.
The collection primarily focuses on menswear with womenswear acting as a key trend to the overall looks. The famed draped kurtas for men come in kaleidoscopic prints that are embedded on the finest of silks, which are paired with armour-like bundis and black military-inspired short bandhgalas. The new Shantanu & Nikhil cowl trousers update the dhoti silhouette and go perfectly with both the shorter jackets and longer sherwanis, all topped with jewelled brooches and regalia-inspired accessories. A new line of couture safas and stoles complements the looks.
Coming to womenswear, the duo blurs the boundaries between ballgowns and lehengas, creating hybrid styles that can be worn by everyone irrespective of the location. These voluminous drapes meet expertly constructed bodices and embellished embroideries that shimmer with crystals, while leather appliqués lend a powerful statement to each look. The signature Shantanu & Nikhil crimson lehengas are the highlight, standing out of the crowd with their softer appeal and embellishments all done by the hands of master artisans.
The colour palette travels from gold to navy, reds to blacks, punctuated with multicolour couture prints developed in-house and transferred onto the most luxurious fabrics.
