Uniqlo’s parent company Fast Retailing has pledged to donate 10 million masks to fight the outbreak of the coronavirus. The donation addresses the shortage of masks at medical outposts across the globe, especially in areas where the spread of the coronavirus has been vast.
Fast Retailing will be donating 1.05 million masks to the United States through Uniqlo USA beginning in early April. The masks are to be supplied to local medical facilities through the New York State Government.
Similarly, a donation of one million masks will be received by Italy starting in late March, allocated by the Milan City Government. The Japanese government will be receiving another one million masks, while the balance will be distributed to the most impacted countries worldwide.
The retail company has already come to the aid of countries and regions most affected by the virus. The company has donated HEATTECH, AIRism, and down jackets to medical staff in China, South Korea, and Southeast Asia, and has made financial contributions to NGOs.
