 Hitting the nostalgia right

If you grew up in the 90s, there’s no way you don’t know about these products. Though there were not many brand options to choose from, still a very few products made it inside the household and stayed. Some of these products are still the MVPs of our beauty and grooming routine and the truth is that these still deserve a spot on our vanity shelf. With their classic formula and effectiveness, these products are still available over the counter, and we must give them a chance, for old times' sake.

If you don’t immediately start humming the jingle, you’ve missed out on the fun times. This is the OG moisturiser that most millennials began their skincare journey with because it did it all. With turmeric as the hero ingredient and iconic formula that suits all skin types, try it on the body for its brightening properties. Well, for the sake of better options that are available, don’t use it on the face.

Medimix Soap

The sought-after medicated soap, Medimix, was the only answer to acne-prone and sensitive skin. The soap is still thriving in the market and if you’re one of those old school people who prefer a bar over soap gels and washes, bring back Medimix to your shower routine, especially if you have sensitive skin and want to prevent infections.

Boroline

The antiseptic cream Boroline with its faint but lingering fragrance, this one is still the most effective for chapped lips, dry elbows and cracked heels. Apart from being the skincare OG, there’s no challenge big enough for this all-rounder, be it cuts or burns. If you still have one handy on your kitchen shelf for hazardous cooking days, you’re doing good.

Waxing marks, sensitive or irritated skin, or lack of a base under makeup–Lacto Calamine is all that you need. Good to control sebum and give that matte finish, it works best during summers for those with oily skin type and even under makeup to keep the base intact. It might not smell the best, but it still does what it claims.

This product has finally achieved its cult status, it’s been covered by global platforms and influencers swear by its efficacy. Use it everywhere, a rash, mosquito bite, a pimple or irritation, it almost instantly takes it away. Well, it might be that uncool product to you but actors like Aditi Rao Hydari and Priyanka Chopra swear by it and keep it in their stash. With camphor, coconut oil and natural herbs, it has antiseptic, astringent properties that can help keep a doctor away.

Charmis Cold Cream

My 94-year-old grandmother still wants her jar of Charmis cold cream in winter and if you look at her skin, it might be wrinkly, but it is hydrated, healthy and glowing. Apart from her face and neck, she uses it religiously on her hands and elbows to keep dryness away. While you might not be a fan of its thick texture and overwhelming smell, this has been a classic for ages for all the right reasons.

Old Spice After Shave Lotion

My father not only used it after shaving his beard, but also as an antiseptic when we got hurt or got cuts. And believe me when I say, it works. It instantly stopped the bleeding while keeping the wound clean. And of course, the smell, it’s that of a masculine, well-groomed man and you cannot disagree.

The magic in a tub, I haven’t learned how to function without this one yet. From treating dry lips and flaky skin years ago to being a part of a recent skincare trend called slugging, Vaseline has adapted to all generations and stayed relevant. In fact, I have used it as an after-care for my tattoos, who would have thought?
