You scroll through your feed and search the internet to save multiple options for how you want your next haircut. While you sit in the chair all prepared, sometimes the final look doesn't match how you imagined it to be. Though there are no immediate solutions to a bad cut, there are ways to make it work till you regrow the hair and go for the next cut.
Embrace a New Style
When a trim goes wrong, have a word with your stylist immediately to figure out what best can be done to minimise the damage. However, if it’s still not close to your expected style, embrace the new look. “It might take a day or two for it to settle and then at least three to four sessions periodically to go back to the original style. Till then, we try to style it in a different way and teach the client also about how to style the new look,” says Deepak Jalhan, Creative Director at Looks Prive.
Opt for a Messy Look
If you have length to work with, you can always choose to embrace the messy look. It is a trend these days and looks effortless and cool. All you need is a texturising product to ruffle it up. The idea is to make it look undone, imperfect, and messy. Your cue here is Ranveer Singh whose off-duty long hair style is exactly what you should look to achieve when your haircut doesn’t turn out the way you desire.
Work With a New Parting
One of the effective ways to work around a wrong trim or haircut is by styling the hair differently, something that suits the new cut. This could be done either by going with a different parting. “When a haircut goes wrong, we have to come up with a different shape and style and that could be done effectively by parting the hair differently that how it used to be,” explains Jalhan. However, it can also be done by putting the hair back using styling products.
Let The Beard Take Spotlight
One other way to take the attention away from the bad cut is by changing the look of your facial hair. Let the spotlight be on the face so it takes the attention away from the hair. “We change the style of the beard to suit the new hairstyle and bring attention to the face. We either make it sharper or go for a clean-shaven look to bring out a new perspective in the overall look,” says Jalhan.
Learn to Work with Styling Gel
Short or long hair, going sleek using a styling gel or wax can make the haircut look clean and smooth. This works better when a short haircut goes wrong. Slicking it back makes it look smooth rather than shabby and worn out.
