As you hit 30, you’ll notice changes on your skin–fine lines, wrinkles, dull skin and dark circles will slowly find a spot on your face, not immediately but slowly you might notice one or two. Therefore, it’s time to give your routine an upgrade as the skin will go through a few changes. And the skin will demand a bit more in this decade as collagen production slows down and ageing starts to catch up.
With age, the outer layer of the skin starts getting thinner due to slower cell production and this makes the skin more fragile. Also, you might notice that the skin looks drier than usual which is due to a decrease in sebaceous gland activity. With this, the skin’s ability to heal also slows down and thus you need to support it externally with proper products and supplements. Here’s all you must start doing in your 30s.
- Include Supplement in Your Daily Routine
Start feeding your body more good stuff and only a balanced diet wouldn’t suffice. Add antioxidants, vitamin C and E and omega 3 to your regular routine. These supplements enhance the skin’s defence against external aggressors and promote skin healing and repair.
Topically, you must start using peptides in your routine. As we age, collagen production starts to slow down and using peptides on the skin can help better skin elasticity and hydration. Oral collagen can also be considered as an option.

- Use Retinoids
Retinoids are nothing but vitamin A derivatives which come in different concentrations which include retinol and retinal. Retinoids help in promoting cell turnover and reversing premature signs of ageing and skin damage. However, it’s a potent active and must only be included slowly, that too in less concentration. Consult with your doctor before you begin with retinoids.

- Include Under-Eye Cream in your Routine
A simple moisturiser must have been serving the purpose till now, but the 30s are different. The skin under the eyes is thinner and needs more care. One might be regular with sunscreen and retinols, but many men tend to ignore the under-eye area and that’s one habit to change if you don’t want to see crow feet and wrinkles early on. The under-eye area has no oil glands and therefore, extra TLC is required. Do not skip this step.

- Better your Lifestyle
It might be a cliche, but the end of your 30s will make you realise how a good lifestyle impacts the skin and overall health. It doesn’t make any sense to wait for a decade because it might be too late. Good sleep and a fitter lifestyle are paramount at this age. Active routine enhances circulation and strengthens the immune system. And good sleep gives enough time to the skin to rest and wake up fresh and radiant.
