Let's cut to the chase: foot odour is a real thing, and if you've ever peeled off your socks after a long day and been hit with a wall of stink, you know exactly what we're talking about.
It's nothing to be embarrassed about–most men deal with it at some point. Whether it's from sweaty gym sessions, all-day hustle in tight shoes, or ignored feet hygiene, stinky feet happen. But you don't have to live with it.
What's actually causing the smell?
Your feet have more sweat glands than any other part of your body. When all that sweat gets trapped in socks and shoes, it creates the perfect environment for bacteria to multiply which smells terrible. Add in synthetic socks, shoes that don't breathe, or skipping the occasional foot wash, and things can go downhill fast.
How to get your feet back on track?
Wash them properly
Sounds obvious, but this is the foundation. Use an antibacterial soap and get in between those toes. Then dry your feet completely. Damp skin is bacteria's best friend.
Level up your sock game
Those basic cotton socks you've been wearing since college? Time to retire them. Look for moisture-wicking fabrics like merino wool or performance blends that keep sweat away from your skin and dry faster.
Give your shoes a break
Rotating your shoes gives them time to dry out, which helps kill odour-causing bacteria. If your shoes are damp or funky, sprinkle in some baking soda or invest in cedar inserts overnight.
Powder, spray, repeat
Foot powders (especially ones with baking soda or zinc) can help keep things dry and neutralise odour. If your feet are extra sweaty, try an antifungal spray just to be safe.
Air them out
At home? Go barefoot. And when the weather allows, opt for sandals or breathable sneakers. Your feet deserve some air time.
When to See a Doctor?
If you're doing all the right things and your feet are still clearing the room, you might be dealing with a fungal infection like an athlete's foot. It's super common and easily treated, so don't hesitate to talk to a doctor.
