With the summer season upon us, it’s time to start taking measures in order to beat the heat and stay healthy throughout. The season change is so gradual that you won’t even notice until the heat gets out of control. Your body and skin will be the first to take the hit. Since you need to look after your body excessively during this season, here are some tips you can add to your daily schedule.
More Fruits and Vegetables
Usually, in summers, we feel like consuming liquid more than solid food and end up having an inadequate diet. That is probably one of the biggest mistakes you could make. Even in summers, our body requires the intake of all the leafy greens and the seasonal fruits. Go for freshly harvested fruits especially mangoes and watermelons. Eat fruits rich in Vitamin C and Vitamin A to limit the potential of sunburn.
Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate!
This goes without saying, but we cannot emphasize enough on the importance of keeping yourself hydrated throughout the day. And you need to do it any way you can. Let it be through coconut water, lime juice or even plain old simple water. Consuming 8 to 10 glasses of water every day should be good enough. Don’t forget to keep a bottle handy when going out in the sun.
Switch To Lighter Snacks
Instead of sitting with a bag of chips or other fried snacks every time you binge watch shows in your bed, go for freshly cut fruits, baked snacks, seeds, or even nuts. They will help you feel lighter and not bloated. It will also not make you feel heavy and leave some room for the proper meal later.
Pick Juices Over Aerated Drinks
During the summers, you feel thirsty all the time and getting a chilled cola or any energy drink sounds really tempting. But its best to avoid those as they are not healthy and will make you feel worn out eventually. Instead, get fresh juices. Anything that is light and water-based will make you feel refreshed in no time. Even drinks like iced tea or lime water make for a perfect replacement.
Reduce The Portion Of Your Meals
The stomach takes longer to digest food in summers, so avoid heavy meals, especially at night as it can make you feel strange the next day. Instead of having large meals, switch to small ones and try to eat them at least 2 hours before your bedtime.
It is important to look out for infections and diseases during the summer season. Since you are sweating much more than usual, the chances of infections coming up are quite high. DO NOT let the sweat dry up and think it is alright. Make sure you take a bath at least twice a day. Also, check to see if the food is fresh because food tends to turn stale in no time because of the heat.
