5 Brands To Look Out For This World Environment Day

From jeans made out of recycled cigarette butts to an eco-friendly radio, sustainability seems to be no longer just a buzzword.

In a world where celebrities are memed about taking a private jet to the other side of their house, the word “sustainability” has become a bit of a buzzword, marketing gimmick if you will. However, there are a few who are still trying to push the envelope towards a brighter, greener and hopefully more sustainable future. Today, we’re taking a look at five of them and the products/services they offer.

Six Senses Fort Barwara

Once home to a Rajasthani Royal family, Six Senses Fort Barwara pays homage to the history of the Barwara community. The 700-year-old palace and temples have been restored using traditional techniques, blending efficient design elements like rainwater collection tanks and solar panels. This conservation effort reinterprets the regal ambience of a bygone era while protecting the Barwara community and environment.

Lee Cooper

In a bid to reduce environmental impact, Lee Cooper has come up with something interesting. The brand has showcased the world's first jeans made from recycled cigarette butts. Cigarette butts, a significant environmental challenge, are transformed into valuable textile fibres through a recycling process. This helps in not only reducing waste but also minimizes the environmental impact of denim production.

Perhaps not as big as the other offerings on the list, the Model One Digital Gen 2 does deserve some attention. While functioning as a radio with FM, Bluetooth, Airplay 2, and Chromecast connectivity, it also comes with three real wood finishes and eco-friendly fabric.

Eurumme

Fast fashion accounts for a heavy chunk of environmental pollutants. Countering this is a Delhi-based handcrafted jewellery brand called Eurumme, which creates unique pieces with semi-precious stones and metals, offering a rather minimal and contemporary vibe.
