It’ll only cost a pretty penny of $495,000 per ticket
How do you make a Michelin-starred meal even more special? You eat it in space, of course. No not fantasy, a Danish chef, Rasmus Munk is set to host a culinary experience which is quite literally out of this world. Prices, too are, sky high starting at $495,000 per ticket. That’s nearly a million dollars for a date night.
However, you do appear to get your money’s worth. Hosted by the company called SpaceVIP, a space tourism company, the package includes a six-hour-long journey for a special pop-up, hosted by Munk, at Danish restaurant Alchemist which was ranked fifth in the world’s best 50 restaurants for 2023. The company has also stated that all the proceeds from the event will go towards the Space Prize Foundation, “a collective promoting gender equality in science and technology.”

Speaking to the New York Post, Roman Chiporukha, founder of SpaceVIP was quoted saying, “This is the first in a series of expeditions in partnership with leading artists designed to harness the power of space travel to elevate human consciousness and to promote universal space literacy.” Similarly, in a statement, Founder and co-CEO of Space Perspective Jane Poynter further added, “Space Perspective is making the experience of space more accessible than ever before. With our unique spaceflights, we are enabling what can be this completely life-changing moment for people – a profound shift in the way we humans view the world and our place within it.”
Munk is set to design a menu for six guests as they rise to an altitude of 100,000 feet above sea level. With WiFi access on board, guests can livestream their journey and stay connected. If that’s not enough, the guests will also have the opportunity to witness the sunrise against the curvature of the planet.
Coming to the logistical side of things, Munk will craft his culinary delights on board Space Perspective’s Spaceship Neptune, hailed as the world’s premier carbon-neutral spacecraft. This mission is scheduled for a 2025 launch from Florida's Kennedy Space Centre. Unlike traditional rockets, Spaceship Neptune is propelled gently by a SpaceBalloon, offering a unique and eco-friendly space travel experience. Speaking of the food itself, the menu draws inspiration from the profound impact of space exploration over the past six decades.
