Bangladesh and Scotland, two dark horses of the tournament, will lock horns against each other to kickstart the much-awaited Women's T20 World Cup 2024, taking place in the United Arab Emirates, after being shifted from Bangladesh. Eight teams across two teams are competing for the coveted prize, and Australia of course, are the favourite to win it for the record seventh time.

Group A: Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka
Group B: South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Scotland
Will Australia Win The Women’s T20 World Cup Again?
For the first time in a while Australia are heading into the World Cup without their star batter Meg Lanning, who has announced her retirement from international cricket. Despite her absence, youwouldn't like to bet against Australia, a team with an impressive record of six out of eight Women's T20 World Cup trophies. Alyssa Healy now leads the team, and while the younger players will need to take on more responsibility. Beth Mooney's contribution with the bat will be crucial, supported by the talents of Phoebe Litchfield and Grace Harris, among others.
Can India Stop The Aussie Juggernaut?
Harmanpreet Kaur and her teammates would like to forget the agonising defeat they faced at the hands of Australia in 2020. The Indian team has hardly looked as versatile and dynamic as they do now. Although they stumbled in the Asia Cup Final against Sri Lanka, one shouldn't read too much about that result. India remains one of the strongest challengers. The strength of India's top six batters, considering the likes of Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur, is undeniable, showcasing exceptional form and the ability to dismantle any bowling attack they face.
What About The Others?
New Zealand haven't went past the semi-final ever, and that too in 2016, though they are well capable of throwing up surprises. They are led by Sophie Devine, whose form has been a matter of concern lately. Pakistan, meanwhile, would take inspiration from the much-improved batting display in the recently concluded tournament against South Africa. In Group B, England are the team to beat. Having reached final on four occasions and winning it once, the Heather Knight-led team would like to improve their conversion rate in the final. The troika of Charlie Dean, Sarah Glenn, and Sophie Ecclestone form the strongest spin attack of the tournament.
