The 5 Best Movies To Watch While Stoned

Nothing beats smoking and watching a movie. On 4/20, here are our picks of the trippiest, funniest films out there

Soul Plane:

I am not entirely sure how this movie got funded. It would have definitely not been made today, what with political correctness. The film follows the first plane ride made by an airline started by a lawsuit winner, inevitably played by Kevin Hart. The humour is stupid, the storyline lazy, but the absurdity and laugh-out-loud quality of the film makes it great to watch in an altered state of mind (which is probably the only time you can watch it).

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory:

Let Johnny Depp’s maniacal Willy Wonka take you into a world of bright colours, singing midgets, and fat children. Depp might make you a little uncomfortable, with his elastic expressions and bleached skin, but the film is a wild ride through a wondrous, magical landscape.

The Conjuring:

Watching horror movies stoned may not be everyone’s cup of tea, and that is okay. There is something to be said, however, for the heart-pounding adrenaline a good scary flick incites. Getting high is a great way to get immersed in the story and the mythos of the film. The Conjuring is full of lore and jump-scares, landing it in the sweet spot for getting the creeps.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail:

Funded in part by The Beatles’ George Harrison, Monty Python and the Holy Grail showcases British comedy at its finest. Despite the film’s age, the humour is razor sharp, and the absurdity and imagination of the writing keeps you guessing and engaged throughout.

Pineapple Express:

The only film on this list that is specifically based around pot, Pineapple Express is stoner comedy duo Seth Rogen and James Franco’s irreverent masterpiece. It stands out as great to watch while high because you can put yourself in the shoes of the stoned protagonists as they battle drug lords and crooked cops.
