Netflix in an official video announcement today confirms the return of Sacred Games with a second season. Starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Saif Ali Khan as the protagonists, the first season gained massive momentum among the audiences and is back to enthrall us all with engaging performances and a mystery that keeps getting twisted by the day. Will Sartaj Singh succeed in stopping the nuclear attack? Will Ganesh Gaitonde hold on to his mafia gangster position? What is Trivedi’s fate in the series? Here are five things we are excited to discover in the second season.
Pankaj Tripathi’s as Guruji
The first episodes had glimpses of Gaitonde’s third godfather who is expected to take on a bigger role in the coming season. The mastermind will be seen orchestrating the entire nuclear war and thinking about it giving us goosebumps already.
Sartaj Singh’s personal journey
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap will continue directing Ganesh Gaitonde’s track, while Neeraj Ghaywan (of Masaan fame) will take over Sartaj Singh’s plot. Singh was shown battling his anxiety issues in the past and as promised by Kashyap the eight episodes will dwell more into his personal struggles that haven’t been touched upon earlier.
Is Trivedi dead?
The cliffhanger of an episode leaves us at Singh discovering Trivedi at the bottom of the mandala tile where he understands the potential plan of the nuclear attack. The room is also stacked with food ration and water supply which leaves us wondering if the character is dead or really just unconscious.
Surveen Chawla as Jojo Mascarenas
The actress will be seen playing Siddiqui’s love interest in the series. We already saw the gut-wrenching pilot where she speaks to Gaitonde about how ‘they’ made a fool of him for twenty years. For now, all we can do is wait in anticipation of the two come to life on our screens.
Newer plots, deadlier games
Scheduled to film in India and overseas locations this fall, the series has been back with a new trail of betrayal, crime, passion, and a thrilling chase through Mumbai’s underbelly. The games are about to get deadlier! We are sure to see a mix of old favorites and fresh new characters to drive the storyline to its intrepid twists and turns.
