On His 75th Birthday, Let’s Take A Look At Amitabh Bachchan’s Best Monologues

In terms of genres, Amitabh has explored everything from comedy to action to romance with equal panache.

Without a shadow of doubt, Amitabh Bachchan is one of the best actors (if not THE best) Indian cinema has ever seen. He is extremely versatile and can do over the top roles in commercial films as well as show his subtle side in art films. Even in terms of genres, Amitabh has explored everything from comedy to action to romance with equal panache.

To celebrate his 75th birthday, and pay a fitting tribute, we’ll look at some of his best monologues in film.

This is comedy gold from Amitabh Bachchan in Amar Akbar Anthony. Drunk like a fish, Amitabh looks at himself and talks.

Amitabh Bachchan challenges God in this scene, and his eyes tell a story. Definitely, this is one of the best scenes the superstar has delivered in his career.

While SRK is the indisputable king of romance in Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan too has had many moments of genius. One such example is this beautiful poem he recites in Kabhi Kabhie.

Confident, sinister and fearless, Amitabh Bachchan changed his natural accent to great effect in Agneepath. “Aaj shaam 6 baje apna maut ke saath appointment hai.” They don’t deliver dialogues like this in film anymore.

While some superstars of yesteryears lost their acting A-game when they turned old (like Rajesh Khanna), Amitabh Bachchan’s skills only got more refined. In Pink, Amitabh Bachchan delivered a fantastic monologue that will give you goosebumps every time you hear it.

Even after all these years and experience, Amitabh Bachchan still takes his job very seriously and puts in 100% effort into whatever he does. “I like to feel the butterflies in the stomach, I like to go home and have a restless night and wonder how I’m going to be able to accomplish this feat, get jittery. That hunger and those butterflies in the stomach are very essential for all creative people,” he says.

Certainly, we can learn a lot from him, and we hope that we can incorporate a small percentage of his values in ourselves.
