On Women’s Day, let’s take a look at female actors who managed to deliver the most 100 crore films at the box office
Bollywood is said to be one of the biggest film industries in the world. Ever since the benchmark for determining the success of a film started relying on crossing the Rs 100-crore mark, the box office parameters changed drastically. The biggest sign of undisputed stardom is consistency and not many in the industry have been able to pull that through. However, actors like Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma, Vidya Balan, among others have managed to prove that they are here to stay. From the money they earn, their clout in the industry, their ability to hold sway over the public to the power to command box office returns — these actors are doing it all.
The first quarter of 2022 can be said to belong to three heroines — Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, and Madhuri Dixit (in order of appearance). Alia’s Gangubai Kathiawadi crossed 100-plus crore so far at the box office. Let’s take a look at female actors who have more than three 100 crore films in their kitty:
Deepika Padukone made her debut with Om Shanti Om back in 2007, and today, she is one of the biggest stars in Bollywood with seven films that have crossed the 100 Crore mark at the box office – Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Race 2, Bajirao Mastani, Goliyon Ki Leela Ram-Leela, Chennai Express, Piku, and Happy New Year.
Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi is unstoppable at the box office. The film, which was released on February 25th, has been performing steadily. On Friday, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed film crossed the Rs 100 crore milestone at the global box office after a week in theatres. Her debut movie Student of the Year reportedly earned Rs 109 crores at the box office. Gully Boy reportedly earned Rs 238 crores at the box office and had a budget of Rs 40 crores. Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania reportedly earned Rs 173 crores at the box office. 2 States earned Rs 175 crores at the box office.
She also made her Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in 2008. Since then, she has been a part of many Bollywood films and four of them made it to the 100 Crore club: Sultan, PK, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, and Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
Five of her films have managed to enter the 100 Crore club and they are Dabangg, Dabangg 2, Rowdy Rathore, Son of Sardaar, and Holiday.
She is one of Bollywood’s most popular and highest-paid actresses with a long list of awards to her name. Six of her films, Golmaal 3, Ra.One, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, 3 Idiots, Bodyguard, and Singham Returns are part of the 100 Crore club.
