2022 has so far been a promising year for Bollywood. Right from big-budget movies to all the awaited sequels , this year is seeing it all. While the pandemic played a bummer initially, things are certainly looking up with an exciting lineup of remakes that fans can’t stop obsessing over!
Here’s our list of top picks that clearly merit a loooong movie marathon weekend with zero disturbance!
Laal Singh Chaddha
Ever since the announcement of its release; the movie been a topic of discussion, and for good reasons. This Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer film is a Hindi adaptation of Hollywood’s popular movie Forrest Grump. The trailer, however, convinces us that it will be a lot different from its American production. Laal Singh Chaddha releases on August 11, 2022.
Although it has not been officially announced by the makers of the movie, Twitter confirmed Raksha Bandhan’s release after the trailer of this Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer film dropped. Twitter users claim that the movie trailer bears a similar vibe as that of a Telugu film, Kathi Kantha Rao, which was released in 2010. This movie also shares a release date with Khan’s LSC– August 11, 2022.
After Thappad, Tappsee Pannu and Pavail Gulati team up yet again for this film. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, this is a remake of the Spanish movie Mirage. While Dobaaraa has already been screened at the London Indian Film festival, it is scheduled for a release to the masses on August 19, 2022.
In 2018, when Vikram Vedha was first released in Tamil, it went on to become a roaring success. And well, the director duo Pushkar-Gayathri are now planning to recreate the magic in Bollywood! The original movie had R.Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi as its cast, while the remake has roped in Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan to play the respective roles.
Starring Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon, Shehzada is scheduled to release on February 10, 2023. This action drama film directed by Rohit Dhawan is a remake of the Telegu 2020 blockbuster Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo.
This Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi starrer film is a remake of the 2019 Malayalam comedy-drama, Driving License. The shooting schedule for Selfiee resumed early this year, in March, in Bhopal. Directed by Raj Mehta, the movie marks Kumar’s second collaboration with the Dharma banner after Good Newwz.
1976’s Assault On Precinct 13 was first adapted into Tamil as Kaithi in 2019, a box office success. The movie now sees an adaptation in Bollywood, with Ajay Devgn and Tabu in titular roles. The rivetting thriller is set to release on March 30, 2023.
