Vivek Agnihotri has alleged that Kapil Sharma refused to invite him and the cast of ‘The Kashmir Files’ as guests as they did not have a ‘big commercial star’

Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, director of The Kashmir Files, alleged on Twitter that The Kapil Sharma Show turned down his request to invite the team on the show for the promotions as the movie does not “have big commercial stars.” Ever since these allegations came out, Kapil Sharma and The Kapil Sharma Show have been trending on Twitter. People on social media are criticizing the channel, the show makers, and Kapil for their stance. This is not the first time that The Kapil Sharma Show has made headlines for the wrong reasons. Kapil Sharma questions PM Narendra Modi on ‘Acche Din’

 

He sarcastically tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying “Yeh hain aapke achhe din? @narendramodi (sic)” and “I am paying ₹15 cr income tax from last 5 years n still i have to pay ₹5 lacs bribe to BMC office for making my office @narendramodi (sic).” He tweeted about Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials for demanding a bribe of Rs 5 lakh for building an office.

 

Akshay Kumar and Kapil Sharma’s tiff

 

As per reports, Akshay Kumar has refused to go on The Kapil Sharma Show to promote Bachchhan Panday because he was miffed with the comedian. Kapil had joked about Akshay’s much-talked-about interview with Prime Minister Narendra Modi (without taking the PM’s name), leaving the actor tongue-tied. However, later, Kapil clarified that all is sorted between him and Akshay.

 

Mukesh Khanna calling the show ‘cheap’

 

Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna created a stir when he commented on the Mahabharat Special episode of The Kapil Sharma Show that he “rejected” to attend despite the rest of his cast being present for the talk show. Mukesh Khanna said that The Kapil Sharma Show is “full of fuhad pana, full of double meaning words, taking a turn towards vulgarity with every moment, where men wear women’s clothes, do cheap things and people laugh, holding their stomach”.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s fans trended #boycottkapilsharmashow after a segment made fun of the late actor’s life. The apparent mocking of the coverage of Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise made social media users unhappy, subsequently leading to a trend calling for the boycott of the series.

 

Stereotyping women

 

Kapil’s show and his brand of humour have been criticized for the longest time for their stereotypical jokes against women. From fat-shaming to commenting on the female cast’s physical appearance, the show has invited scrutiny. However, such jokes continue to be the flavour on every episode.
