Captain Marvel now joins the billion-dollar club along with movies like Black Panther and Avengers
A lot of superheroes have made it into the billion-dollar club. No, we’re not talking about ultra-rich superheroes like Batman, Iron man or Black Panther, but we’re talking about box office collections and Captain Marvel is the newest addition to that list.
Disney’s Captain Marvel surpassed $1 billion in ticket sales worldwide, proving that female superhero stories are what people want along with the usual boys in tight suits. The blockbuster has generated $358 million in North America, along with $645 million overseas, reported Variety.
Marvel films have easily crossed the billion mark but this is the first time a female superhero has been able to achieve this record. According to the report, Captain Marvel is the seventh movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to reach this milestone. Captain Marvel joins the ranks of other Marvel movies Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther, The Avengers, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Iron Man 3. It also marks the 18th Disney movie to gross over $1 billion.
Captain Marvel herself, Brie Larson took to social media to celebrate this milestone.
