On his social media, he revealed thinking of using the time of the lockdown and enrol himself.

“Certificate course in “Crime Scene Investigation” During the recent lockdown I decided to invest my time and energy into something more constructive. Yes it was extremely challenging, going back to ‘studies of some sort’. But definitely a choice that I am proud of,” he wrote.

Although he had confirmed leaving the show back in 2018, the long-time host of the crime show was lauded for this achievement online. Actress Pragati Mehra wrote “Wow! That’s taking your role’ at Crime Patrol veryyyy seriously,” while his wife, Juuhi Babbar Soni commented some emojis of hearts and clapping hands. A fan commented: “Super! Now the real investigating officer hosting the show would be icing on the cake”

Soni has been associated with crime-based shows for quite a while. He played ACP Ajatshatru in the popular crime show C.I.D, and was the host to Crime Patrol for some eight years, starting 2010. Apart from these, some TV shows Soni featured in were Balika Vadhu, Sea Hawks, Saturday Suspense, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and Tehkikaat. Recently, he was seen in the Prime original web series ‘Tandav’.

Both the Government of India and the Government of Maharashtra recognise IFS as registered.
