Binge-watching crime and murder dramas might be ubiquitous and are the flavour of the season. However, at the end of a long day, we take solace in watching old-school romance or feel-good family shows. Currently, SonyLIV’s dramedy Gullak is the one that has audiences hooked. Ever since the first season that came out three years ago, the audience has hailed the show and the powerful performances delivered by the cast. Created by Shreyansh Pandey under the banner of The Viral Fever, Gullak narrates the story of the Mishra family, a middle-class household from a small town in North India. Breathing life into the show are its actors Jameel Khan, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Vaibhav Raj Gupta, and Harsh Mayar who give us a glimpse of everyday middle-class family issues.

Yeh Meri Family

Taking us back to the ‘90s, Yeh Meri Family celebrates the little joys of life. It depicts the time when we had landline phones, water coolers, and times when birthday parties meant homemade food. Streaming on Netflix, the show is created and directed by Sameer Saxena for The Viral Fever. Yeh Meri Family revolves around the life of a 12-year-old Harshu Gupta, played by Vishesh Bansal. It also stars Mona Singh, Akarsh Khurana, Ahan Nirban, Ruhi Khan, and Prasad Reddy in key roles.


Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai

An all-time classic, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai follows the life of a crazy and affluent Gujarati family living in South Mumbai. It had an ensemble star cast including Satish Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Sumeet Raghavan, Rupali Ganguly, and Rajesh Kumar. The show depicts great banter between Maya Sarabhai (played by Ratna Pathak Shah) who comes from an uber-wealthy background, and Monisha Sarabhai (played by Rupali Ganguly) hailing from a typical middle-class family in Delhi. 


Little Things

This series featuring Mithila Palkar and Dhruv Sehgal follows the story of a cohabiting couple in their 20s who together go through various ups and downs. Exploring modern-day relationships in metros, the show reflects on how Dhruv and Kavya go through various life transitions in their journey together.



Potluck is a family drama-comedy that explores the dynamics of a modern family without falling prey to cliches or melodrama. This light-hearted drama revolves around a father who is attempting to build a joyful connection with his children. 



When Abhishek (Jitendra Kumar) is appointed as Panchayat’s secretary in the remote village of Phulera in UP, his life is disrupted. His first experience of village life will crack you down with laughter. Panchayat is a drama that is laced with humour. 



Set in 2005 Jammu and Kashmir, Kaafir is based on a real story. It stars Dia Mirza and Mohit Raina in the lead. Kainaz (Dia) is from PoK, but comes on the Indian side of the Line of Control, and is declared a militant. During her imprisonment for eight years, she gives birth to a girl in the prison camp. Vedant (Mohit) is a famous lawyer and journalist who fights for Kainaz and her daughter for their safe return to Pakistan. The series is filmed in Himachal Pradesh capturing breath-taking beauty and scenes.
