It was recently announced that actor Hrithik Roshan will be coming together with actress Deepika Padukone for Siddharth Anand’s Fighter. Now, fans can rejoice because if media reports are to be believed, we might just see Hrithik Roshan play the role of Ravan in Madhu Mantena’s Ramayana.
And guess what? Hrithik Roshan will share screen space with Deepika Padukone in Mantena’s film as well. It was speculated earlier that the actor would play the role of Lord Rama while Padukone would essay the role of Sita. However, recent reports reveal that Hrithik Roshan will be playing Ravan in the mythological drama film.

“Duggu had been in talks to play an important role in Deepika’s Draupadi which was a modern retelling of the epic Mahabharat. But that film will happen later. Mantena is bankrolling Ramayana first and Hrithik will play Ravan’s role in the epic period drama,” a source told a leading daily, reports Filmfare.
Another actor who is set to play the Ramayana anti-hero is Saif Ali Khan. The film, Adipurush, will be directed by Om Raut, and will have Prabhas as Lord Ram, while Khan in the role of Ravan.
In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Khan said that Adipurush will attempt to ‘justify’ Raavan’s actions. “It’s interesting to play a demon king, less strictures in that. But we will make him humane, up the entertainment quotient, justify his abduction of Sita and the war with Ram as revenge for what was done to his sister Surpanakha by Lakshman, who cut off his nose,” said Khan.
Khan’s statement has now landed him into some legal trouble. An advocate in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh has been filed a case against Saif Ali Khan over his recent interview about Adipurush, where the actor said the film would show the “humane” side of Ravan.
According to IANS, the plaintiff has alleged that Saif Ali Khan’s interview is a negative portrayal of “faith” and “faith in Sanatan Dharma”. Apart from the plaintiff, six others also saw the interview online, and it has hurt their religious sentiments, the petitioner has claimed.
