More than 8,000 people have signed the “Remove Kanye from Coachella!” petition on Change.org
Kanye West has our empathy but he has taken things a bit too far. People are upset about how West has been harassing his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian online. Taking the whole situation into consideration, Instagram even went on to suspend the rapper’s account for 24 hours after he posted a racial slur directed at The Daily Show host Trevor Noah. Now, the latest buzz is that the Donda artist won’t be performing at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards.
West’s spokesperson confirmed the news to Variety recently. They said that the rapper’s team received a phone call on Friday night notifying him he has “unfortunately” been removed from the lineup of performers for the show because of his “concerning online behaviour.” West is nominated for five 2022 Grammy Awards. While he was not among the first list of performers announced on Tuesday, he may have been a planned performer. Sources say that West’s team was not surprised that his name was removed from the list.
Noah, who was called out by Ye for discussing the ongoing feud between West, Kardashian and her boyfriend, Pete Davidson, took to his Twitter handle to react and say, “I said counsel Kanye not cancel Kanye.”
What’s more, a petition to remove West from the 2022 Coachella Festival line-up is acquiring speed. more than 8,000 people have signed the “Remove Kanye from Coachella!” petition on Change.org. “We have watched Kanye harass, manipulate and hurt Kim, Pete, and others for over a year now. No one seems to want to stand up to him, and the ones that do, he puts under fire as well,” the petition’s description states.
“Most recently, he has been threatening actual bodily harm on others. This is ridiculous that he is allowed to freely do this. Coachella (along with other brand names that are still working with him) should be ashamed of themselves and should not be giving him any more of a platform,” the message continued.
Kanye West is nominated for four Grammys for his 10th studio album ‘Donda’. He is also nominated for Album of the Year as a producer for Lil Nas X’s debut album ‘Montero’. Trevor Noah will be hosting the 64th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, April 3, on CBS.
