The theme for 2022 is Gilded Glamour and White Tie, in reference to the 2022 exhibition – In America: An Anthology of Fashion. The exhibition is the second entry of a two-piece exhibition following 2021’s In America: A Lexicon of Fashion. As for this year’s theme, Gilded Glamour means to represent the era of industrialization and wealth disparity seen in the late decades of the 19th century. So expect to see loud and maximalist looks full of corsets, bodices, white tie tuxedos, and plenty of frilly, sparkly accents.
We will almost certainly see Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Tom Ford walk the Met red carpet this year.
